Xiaomi flags potential price rise for flagship phone

Xiaomi (1810) may raise the price for its new flagship phone, scheduled to launch this month, due to rising research and development and component costs, says founder Lei Jun.

The price of a Xiaomi 15 Ultra may exceed the previous generation’s 6,499 yuan (HK$6,925), Lei said during a livestream yesterday.

Xiaomi is set to release the 15 Ultra alongside its new SU7 Ultra electric vehicle by the end of this month.

Lei also said Xiaomi’s smartphone sales performed well in January, capturing the second-largest market share in China, and that sales growth surged 40 percent month on month, the highest among competitors.
