Alibaba 'chosen by Apple over other Chinese companies'

Alibaba (9988) chairman Joseph Tsai Chung-Hsin has confirmed that the company is in partnership with Apple on developing artificial intelligence capabilities.


Apple needs a local partner in China to serve iPhone users and is very selective, Tsai said at the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai.


“They spoke with several Chinese companies before ultimately choosing Alibaba,” Tsai said.


Tsai added that it is an honor for Alibaba to partner with Apple.
